Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that the fun has to. Fall has so many activities to offer, which can still be enjoyed outdoor. So grab your cozy sweaters, boots and pumpkin spice something, and read up on some ideas on how you can celebrate the season with your loved ones.

Pick Your Own Fruits and Veggies:

Picking your own fruits and veggies can be a very fun family activity. Some produce to pick in the fall season are apples, berries, corn and potatoes. You can take them back home and make pies, jam, and many dishes to enjoy together.

Suggestion: Alstede Farms

Pumpkin Picking:

I left pumpkins out of the suggestion above because they are a huge symbol of the fall season and deserve their own paragraph. Pumpkin picking is a beautiful tradition to enjoy with the little ones in your life.  Not only can you take them home to eat them. But you can also paint them with kids and use them as decoration.

Sunflower mazes are beautiful. They serve as the perfect esthetics for your insta-worthy pictures. Many places will allow you to pick your flowers and take them home. (For a fee)

Haunted House/Corn Maze/Hay Ride:

Who doesn’t love a good scare during the spooky season? This trip can go 2 ways. You can choose to enjoy a child-friendly corn maze/hay ride. Or you can make it a haunted experience. If you choose option 2, Some places have multiple attractions in which you will get a haunted house, hay ride and corn maze in one night. Talk about thrill!

Suggestion: Bates Motel

If you’re serious about scary stuff. You can actually do haunted town tours. Salem, Massachusetts has some great history and spooky parts. So does Boston. Jersey has endless “haunted” areas. You decide how scared you want to be.

Suggestion: Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Tours

Wine Tasting:

Wineries are always a good idea. Specially after a long work week. You get to kick back, relax and enjoy the season. This can also serve as break from the kiddos. You can enjoy with your significant other or make it a girls’ day.

Lantern Festival :

These are the cutest. You can decorate your lanterns with wishes or use them to release any negative energy. You can also make it a picnic day with your loved ones. The sight when all the lanterns are lit is mesmerizing.

You can also visit Sleepy Hollow New York for their annual Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze. You won’t get to decorate and fly your own lantern, but it’s pretty cool to see. It features over 7,000 hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins set against the mysterious backdrop of Van Cortlandt Manor’s 18th-century buildings and riverside landscape.
