There is nothing like Christmas in New York. The city that never sleeps, definitely goes all out during the holiday season. You can find the most extravagant decor by just walking around the city, and the most beautiful Christmas trees in building lobby’s. Christmas windows are always something to look forward to in different stores. See below for more suggestions.

Rockefeller Center- Snap a picture on front of the world’s most famous Christmas tree, go ice skating, pick a out a toy or some candy at Fao Schwartz, experience the Rockettes show, or watch the light show and fabulous windows at Saks 5th Avenue. Whatever you decide to do on your Rockefeller visit, I am positive that it will be a magical experience

Holiday Themed Restaurants and Bars – Although that most business establishments in NYC partake in the festivities. Some places make a theme out of the holidays. Some places to add to your list include:

Holiday Markets – This is the time of year where our wallets scream for a break. Although that shopping has shifted to mainly online, the expenses remain pretty high. If you’re going to spend the money, it’s good to get out of the house at least once to experience the super cute and unique holiday markets that NYC has to offer. You can find some of them at these locations.

Dyker Heights Christmas Lights– This Brooklyn neighborhood knows a thing or 2 about Christmas decor. During the holiday season, it is a tradition for the residents to decorate their homes as festive as they can be. There is usually friendly competition to see who can outdo their neighbor each year. The residents are very welcoming and enjoy celebrating the season with the visitors swinging by every year. Typically about 100,000 tourist visit to experience the neighborhood’s creative light displays. You can Check out the magical decors from 11th to 13th Avenues, and from 83rd to 86th Street.

Macy’s Santa Land – The 8th floor of the Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square converts into a Christmas village this time of year.

The event typically runs from Black Friday until Christmas Eve. This is a free event with an option to purchase the pictures with Santa. Although that you can also take the pictures with your phone, and no one will bother you about it. But you have to make sure to get your tickets (here) before they sell out.

Hello Panda Fest- While the Mets are on winter break, Citi Field in Queens transforms into a light show wonderland. Hello Panda is a Holiday themed lantern festival with large light sculptures and exhibits. They have multiple games and rides for children. Live performances, food vendors and shopping for the entire family. And beer garden and bar for adults.
